I was asked by some friends I used to work with to bake a wedding cake for one of their new colleagues. I wish I could have eaten a slice of this cake as it is my favourite lemony flavour – lemon sponge with a smothering of lemon butter cream icing and a dash of lemon curd.
I found some cute little ceramic birds to sit on the top of the cake which I decorated with a little bit of netting for the bride bird’s veil, and a little fondant top hat for the groom. I also redid the bunting topper to make it look a bit prettier as the tape I decorated it with kept coming off.
